Affinities: one minor affinity, of any type
To be honest, neither the Host nor the Horde really knows what to make of this stuff. It's just sort of... there, and it doesn’t really seem to have much in the way of an external justification for it. It's also pretty new; nobody remembers seeing it around any earlier than possibly ten, twenty years ago. Which is interesting, because it's useful stuff; one would think that someone would have noticed it before.
Fungus is sort of an ethereal life-form - it's probably parasitical to other ethereal life-forms, but celestials are made of sterner stuff - that "attacks" by latching onto their ethereal Images... and then does nothing in particular. In fact, the ethereal is symbiotic; it effectively acts as a talisman/2 for Dream-Shaping (adder), with another +1 for Dream-Shaping whatever affinity a particular Fungus happens to have. This "species" is found mostly in the Far Marches, although it's cropping up in more and more Domains. Fungus doesn't seem to reproduce, and what it "eats" is open to question; generally speaking, it won't come off until the wearer of it enters either the celestial or the corporeal plane (whereupon it immediately disappears). Human souls don't seem to be able to even attract a Fungus' attention, such as it is - let alone get it to attack, or latch on.
Fungus wearing is becoming somewhat of a habit among both angels and demons visiting the Marches, although it must be noted that neither Blandine nor Beleth are entirely supportive of the custom. Anyone brave enough to ask either (or, more likely, their Servitors) will be told that there is no real reason for the hesitation; all testing on Fungus came back negative. As far as can be seen, the ethereals are strange, but harmless.
But there's still just something a little bit off about the stuff.
