Although the proportions are admittedly off, it occurs to me that getelds look similar to shelter halves. I'm still waffling a bit on whether or not the main "body" of the tent is a rectangle or a trapezoid. But if it's a rectangle with equilateral triangle doors, then... same shape. And then I wonder if the "tube" up top is a connector between the two shelter halves? Even if it's directly sewn... so that the top seam isn't rubbing against the ridge pole. And the little flappy ends keep rain off the supporting poles. They might also be sewn shut to tension the thing, like Greet found was helpful.
Might be worth trying if I can get $1-2/yard wool suiting. Need about 10 yards, I think; 60" wide gets me 48" tall tent, 54" gets 44".
