Damn, but it's looking like it's going to be a slow day. I was sure that I could find something interesting and nonpolitical. Oh, well.

I'm not sure about interesting (or even nonpolitical; do I count?) but I was truly psyched to find that you've started blogging again and about gaming no less -- and only a day after I'd begun to prepare to run my first campaign in over seven years.

I tell ya, you can run, you can hide, but you can't ever get the adrenaline rush of RPGing out of your system...

Oh, I think that we can grandfather you in. :)

so, what system are you running?

Anarch

Planescape, gussied into 3.5 D&D courtesy of planewalker.com. I tend to be somewhat free with my system though; I tend to regard the rules as more of, well, guidelines.

Don't we all? :)

You'll have to tell us how that goes; 3e - guess I should start calling it 3.5e - garners some, ah, emphatic reactions among my gaming crowd. I'm interested to see how a campaign using it shakes out.

You don't say...

[FWIW, I usually call it 3.x when I'm just getting the crude distinction down.]

I'm interested to see how a campaign using it shakes out.

Me too, never having run a Planescape campaign (though having designed lots of stuff for it posthumously, alas). It should be fun, though; in addition to the usual meatshields, one of the characters is going to be a pixie sorcerer who is completely unaware of his spell-casting ability and simply thinks that Bad Things Happen To Bad People. [Hey, it's the Planes -- belief has power!] Even funnier is that the player has ceded all control over his spell-casting ability; I'm the one who's going to determine what spell goes off and when...

Alas, my own players know better than to give me such power. :(
